Poniższy essay to moja kolejna praca domowa.

To wymóg tutejszego akademickiego pisania. Essay = introduction + body + conclusion. Wprowadzenie obowiązkowo rozpoczęte zdaniem zwanym “hook” by pozyskać uwagę czytelnika, by go od pierwszego zdania zainteresować treścią essay’u. Ostatnie zdanie we wprowadzeniu zwane thesis statements powinno pokazywać czego dotyczyć będą kolejne paragrafy, powinno zawierać ich główną myśl. No a każdy poszczególny paragraf powinien zaczynać się od topic sentence. W ten sposób napisany essay jest czytelny, łatwy do analizy i nie musimy czytać go szczegółowo by wiedzieć o czym mowa. Wystarczy przeczytać kilka ważnych (należy oczywiście wiedzieć których) zdań by poznać ogólną myśl tekstu. Czy uczą tego teraz w szkołach? Halo panie od polskiego, halo panie od angielskiego! To wspaniała technika pisania i czytania – nauczajcie ją swoich podopiecznych!

Imagine that one of your classmates becomes a world famous writer. Could I be this person? I love writing. When I was little I used to write a diary. Later when I traveled around Europe in search of a job, I used to write long letters to my friends in Poland. When the Internet was created, I started to write long emails. I have also become an author of a blog which exists to this day and which has a group of faithful readers. And even though I do not like assigned essays at school, I also do this kind of writing. I like to write without limitation about the things that interest me. Could I ever write a bestselling book? Could I be a famous writer some day?
There is no school for writers. Some people who became writers studied literature. They read everything that others wrote, and they learned how to write from other authors. But most famous writers studied unrelated subjects like medicine, psychology or chemistry and became writers later in their lives. Some authors never studied at a college or university.  They traveled the world finding ideas for their stories. I do not have a university degree, I lived in four different countries, and I traveled all over Europe. Will this help me to become a famous writer?
Until now all my writing has been in Polish. I am faced with the possibility that I will permanently live in the U.S. I am learning English, and I am slowly learning to write in English. But I am not sure if I will ever be able to write in English as easily as I do in my native language. I am encouraged by authors like Vladimir Nabokov or Joseph Conrad, who learned English at a later age and still became famous American writers. On the other hand, there were many writers who lived in the U.S. and wrote in their native language. Should I write in English or in Polish?
But the more important question is what I should write. I like to write about things that happen to me, about my feelings, observations, and emotions. So many interesting things happen to me every day. I keep meeting a lot of interesting people in this new country. I have an ability to describe common objects and events in a way that others find interesting and even fascinating. However, I cannot write about imaginary people or situations. I do not like making up a plot or characters.
I will never be a science fiction writer. I will never write a “Great American Novel.” However, I dream of traveling to far away places and writing journals from my travels. I also dream of writing an autobiography describing my unhappy childhood and all the amazing things that happened to me later in my life. Writers are a bit like actors. There are many actors in Hollywood but only a few are rich and really famous. Most of them act because they have a passion for acting. I do not know if I will ever become a famous writer, but I have the passion for writing. I will keep writing even if I can not write a bestselling book. I will keep writing even if I can never be a famous writer.
